That isn’t a butterfly in your stomach, it’s your 2nd brain. There are more neurons lining your gut than there are in your spinal cord so your digestive system can work without needing your brain. When you’re flooded with emotion, the neurons react and you get a “gut feeling.” Source

Two MSU basketball players raped a woman in the dorms then one admitted to it. Their only consequence was that they had to move out of the dorms. This picture is of me and one other woman holding up this banner during Midnight Madness. Two other brave souls had a banner on the other side for a while before some jerk started playing tug or war with them over it. This was taken before we got booed at by 10,000 people and police escorted from the stadium.

How screwed up are people to boo at this?

Let’s keep reposting this. Rapists should be charged.

how is sport more important than the lives of women? like honestly baffling

“It was hell growing up. My parents were two pieces of shit. You don’t know what it was like coming home from school and being afraid because your mom is flying on fucking drugs so you go and hide under your bed and listen to them scream and wonder whether your dad or your mom was going to kill the other one first. One time my dad told my mom that he’d kill her if she hit me again. He came home that night and saw my face bruised up, so he dragged my mom out of her room by the legs, lifted her up by her throat and pinned her against the wall. Her face was turning more and more purple and I was pulling on her legs trying to get her feet back on the ground. Cause I didn’t want to see my dad kill my mom. She always beat me and called me a piece of shit and told me that I was going to hell, but that was my mom.”

So it’s been 8 months in Lagos, Nigeria so far. I’ve met so many interesting people, still trying to make friends, had more downs than ups but the few ups are always worth the downs. I’ve had great opportunities come by me … and many kept on going by lol. But I still feel more exhilarated everyday. It still feels so different from all my years in the States repeating the same routine. A lot of days, I wake up here with no clue what new obstacle I may face (can get pretty disheartening at times), but I think I’m really going to try to stick this one out and hopefully be in a position to showcase more of the beauty of home.
